Necessary Mindset of a New Joinee to be an ideal Team member

Importance of a Great Team Member

Teams are created for several Reasons. They may need to deliver a
one-time project, or work together on an ongoing basis. Either way, if you
take advantage of a group's collective energy and creativity, the team can accomplish much more in less time.

Being a valuable team member can open new career oppurtunities, because leaders may see firsthand what a great job you're doing. You may even be invited to bring your strengths into play in other setting - and in higher profile, business-critical projects. This is why learning to be a good team player is so important. If you make a good impression, you never know what possibilities might open for you.

People could be divided roughly into two groups: guests and hosts.

Many people strive for authority positions because they think it means they’ll in effect be the guest of honor at an endless series of banquets.

But if you’re a leader, you’re not the guest of honor at the party. You’re the host. And there’s a certain mindset that a good host has.

Host Mindset:

1. Embraces challenges.

2. Persists in obstacles.

3. Sees effort as necessary.

4. You need to prepare your part beforehand.

5. You have to master the field of your project.

6.You must be responsible for the policies of the project.

7.You must have more knowledge about the objective of the project.

8. You are also responsible for things happening inside the team.

9. Having a host mindset means being willing to take a proactive approach to your work. That means not only working with the agenda your manager establishes for you but also setting actionable goals for yourself.A host mindset also requires building relationships across the company, not just in your department with people on your team.It means staying focused on your professional development by staying on top of industry news, trends, and the latest research. It means delivering more than what’s expected of you. When you have a true host mindset, you aren’t just going to work each day and getting paid–you’re thinking big, building a bright future.

10.Always initiate.

11.Welcomes and make others inclusive.

12.Volunteers.

13.Communication is open and clear.

Guest Mindset:

1. You need to have open ears for getting inputs form your lead and colleagues.

2. Ready to be a student to learn about the field of work.

3.A guest mindset helps in listening to the other members and learn from them.

4.Good observer and learn from others.

5.Joinee with a guest mind set will have a hard time adjusting and coordinating with other members if there is poor welcoming environment. But with a welcoming and interactive welcome of the joinee he/she can express themselves more  effectively and interact with team members which is a crucial part of any project to be a success.

Conclusion:

we need not stick to have only host mindset and guest mindset,  one can have "growth mindset" to be ideal team member.
